New communication strategy at Breagha House is a big hit
Our Speech & Language Therapists teamed up with residents and our wonderful ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù colleagues to roll out an amazing new communication strategy at Breagha House.
Recently, three residents took part in the Talking Mat™ activity, reflecting on their likes, dislikes, and even exciting new activities they’d love to explore.
The Talking Mat™ sessions were a big hit – fostering creative and visual conversations, ensuring everyone’s voices were heard loud and clear.
Visual aids proved to be a game-changer, enhancing understanding and empowering the individuals to express their unique perspectives. This fantastic strategy has truly helped in shaping our One-Plan approach.
One of our residents even expressed a keen interest in guitar playing, cricket, and fishing.
But the real heart-warming moment? When one resident exclaimed that they were “best friends with Breagha House”.
The positive feedback has been overwhelming – “I liked doing that!”. The Talking Mat has now found a special place on the individual’s bedroom wall!
